Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving! Happy Korean Thanksgiving, that is. The fifteenth day of the lunar month is a happy family holiday in Korea. "Chuseok" is Korea's Thanksgiving Day. The Koreans prepare food with new grain, bake Korean pastry which is called songpyeon. Fresh fruits are bought to decorate the tables for this special day.
The children are dressed as royalty in their traditional Korean dress. Each smile proudly wearing their beautiful Hanbok, which is the pride of the Korean People. Traditional clothing and adornments, are called "hanbok"-an abbreviation of the term Han-guk pokshik (Korean attire).
Thanks is offered to the spirits of their ancestors. Remembering this time with expression of gratefulness for a good harvest. Families visit the grave-mounds to pay their respect. The family grave sites are cleaned by cutting grass and pulling weeds, remembering their rich historical heritage in celebration of their culture and family traditions.
Now, I celebrate Thanksgiving twice a year. I guess God knows that I have much to be thankful for.
